Kathryn L. Wilson (Kate), formerly of Northport, Washington, has recently resettled in Sandpoint after graduating with honors from Carroll College in Helena, Montana. Wilson is working as the "Program Coordinator" for the Pend Oreille Basin Commission here in Sandpoint, dedicated to monitoring and protecting the waters of Lake Pend Oreille, the Pend Oreille River, Priest Lake, and Priest River. It seems like a perfect fit so far, as she thoroughly enjoys researching and investigating watershed issues, writing letters and press releases, setting up meetings, getting involved in community issues that effect water quality, doing outreach and education whenever possible, and acting as the eyes and ears of the busy members of the Commission.

Wilson studied Journalism, Public Relations, and English Writing at Carroll College, and is excited to embark upon the wonders of watershed issues. Her experience includes the editorship of a poetry magazine, media liaison for a literary festival, P.R. person for a grassroots, bio-diesel-making, recycling non-profit group, not to mention a million odd-jobs over the course of her travels. She is interested in pursuing a master's degree in the conservation field or specializing in environmental journalism, though who knows what the future will bring. Her hobbies include snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, writing poems, reading, and hanging out with her big brown dog. The fishing (above) is a new phase (we're going to save the kokanee!).
