Predation and other fishery Issues On Lake Pend Oreille, the prey of choice for many trophy fish, including the federally listed as endangered bull trout, is kokanee. This landlocked sockeye salmon, introduced in the Flathead in the 1930s, provides forage for many fish in the lake, and they are collapsing rapidly. IDFG cites predation by lake and rainbow trout as the primary reason for thier demise. Currently, efforts are underway to curb this predation, check out the "Angler Incentive Program." Take a look at the IDFG, in collaboration with the "Kokanee Recovery Task Force" has planned for the Angler Incentive Program! Help save the Lake Pend Oreille fishery by harvesting predator trout. Anglers can make a difference! Angler
