The Pend Oreille Basin Commission, also known as the "Lakes Commission," is based in Sandpoint, Idaho. To learn more about the make up and/or mission of the Commission, please visit the "About Us" page. New news? Well we moved into a stellar new office in the Power House (located at 120 East Lake Street, Suite 301 in Sandpoint). You are more than welcome to stop in and visit, but please call ahead as office hours are subject to change depending on the week's activites; regular office hours can be difficult with just one part-time staffer. NOTE: We will be restructuring the website (to be more helpful) over the next couple of months...bear with us. Thanks! :) Our last meeting was held on February 20, 2008. The meeting topics included: 1) a presentation on the intent and results of the Lake Pend Oreille Nearshore Survey conducted last summer; 2) discussion on the issue of "quasi float homes," ; 3) discussion on the Idaho Club proposed "community dock" at the mouth of Trestle Creek; and 4) an update on Commission-funded watershed projects. Due to schedule conflicts, our next meeting has been rescheduled, and will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. We do have an annual meeting calendar now (relatively consistent schedule!), though it does depend on the schedules of the Commissioners and our guest speakers. Allegedly, we will be meeting for subsequent meetings the second Wednesdays of the months of February, May, August, and November for quarterly sessions. Though this calendar is a tentative schedule for our meetings, the dates are subject to change. We encourage you to attend! See our staff/contact us page and email/call to sign up for our notifications or to get more information. Or try our new "feedback" option! How can you get involved in Idaho's water issues?
